ABOUT ME
I am an early career ecotoxicologist, interested in the effects of anthropogenic pollutants in freshwater ecosystems. Growing up on Lake Superior, I've always been passionate about keeping freshwater ecosystems pristine. Now, as a PhD student, I investigate the effects of microplastics in freshwater ecosystems. Learn more about my work by checking out my current projects and past publications.
MY RESEARCH
from lab to lake
IMPACTS OF MICROPLASTICS ON FATHEAD MINNOWS
Microplastics are a complex environmental pollutant. The laboratory experiments I conduct are designed to better understand the chemical and physical impacts of microplastics. I conduct these tests using fathead minnows, an important freshwater prey species.
IMPACTS OF MICROPLASTICS ON A FRESHWATER COMMUNITY
Microplastics are ingested by species at all levels of the foodweb. To better understand the community-level impacts of microplastics, I will be investigating the effects of a mixture of common plastic types and chemical additives on a freshwater community. This experiment will be conducted at the IISD-Experimental Lakes Area in the summer of 2021.
